Obamitas

They’re not Obama’s daughters, they’re a type of cookie that will brighten up your day and make those long workdays easier to bear.

Obamitas cookies, the latest anti-depressant
Obamitas cookies, the latest anti-depressant
A few days ago we talked about Carlota's cookies and today we’ve discovered the wonderful world of Obamitas. Could it be that designer cookies with a message are a new trend? We love the idea, because we like cookies that are different, original, and unconventional.

That’s what Obamitas are like. They’re chocolate cookies that bear an uncanny resemblance to the president of the United States.

Business Card Planter

The purpose of handing out a business card isn’t so clients will put them away in their wallets. It’s so they’ll look at the card once in while and remember your name. If you have a traditional business card, it will probably end up forgotten in some sad cardholder and will never again see the light of day.

London-based graphic designer Jamie Wieck set off to create a business card that’s different, original and attractive with the aim of encouraging clients to keep it on top of their desks rather than hidden in a drawer.

A complete Ohina-sama set, with a 7-tiered platform
  What is Hina-matsuri?
When I was a girl, the tradition of decorating Ohina-sama dolls with my mother was a special event that we celebrated each year at home. These are traditional Japanese dolls, and people start decorating them towards the end of February. They are so pretty that, while they were on display, I would never tire of spending countless hours staring at them completely enraptured.

When I was a girl, one of my favorite shows on TV was Oretachi, hyokinzoku ("We’re a funny family"). The program featured Takeshi Kitano disguised Take-cyan Man, a super-hero who always managed to mess things up.

After all these years, we still see him on TV every day. He’s the great comedian known as Beat Takeshi. However, in the rest of the world, he’s better known as a director.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a smiling cloud!
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a smiling cloud!
Do you wake up in a foul mood and walk around like a zombie all morning? A double dose of coffee should get you going, but what would really liven up your day is if you were to come across a landscape as charming as the one Londoners had a chance to contemplate last week.

British artist Stuart Semple took it upon himself to cheer up passers-by who were out early enough to catch his curious installation called "HappyCloud" which consisted of filling the sky with pink clouds shaped like smiley faces.

Futuristic "Paco House"

Despite the Spanish name, the Paco house is Japanese. It’s like a cardboard box with a bunch of surprises inside.

Open it to find out what it looks like inside
We complain about living in tiny homes where nothing fits and we fantasize about having enormous houses so we can spread all our possessions out. While some of us waste time daydreaming, other creative minds are bent on finding ways to optimize space.

The Japanese studio Schemata Architecture has created these unique white square futuristic-looking houses. They measure just 3 square meters, but inside they’re equipped to meet any human’s basic needs with a kitchen, shower, WC, bed and a living area.

Radiology Art

What happens if you put a hamburger in a CAT scan machine? You get unusual and interesting images such as these.

This hamburger has been X-rayed
This hamburger has been X-rayed
Surely at some point you’ve killed time by making copies of your face in the office copy machine. Your face deformed on a sheet of A 4 paper is just an anecdotal document of no great interest, but if you like seeing what things look like through a scanner, you should follow the footsteps of the people who created these photographs and use a more professional system.
