Now you can decorate your living room with a Tetris theme with this furniture: these pieces are shaped like the different figures from the popular videogame.
You won’t get points for fitting these together
Tetris is one of the most popular and successful games of all times. It’s as simple as Pac Man, as intuitive as Lego figures, and as attractive as Rubik’s cube. It’s also as addictive as chocolate: who’s never been hooked on Tetris?
A Russian man named Alekséi Pázhitnov invented it in 1985 while he was working for the Academy of Science in Moscow. It’s possible that the secret of the game’s success lies in its simplicity, anyone can play, even people who hate videogames and computers.
Tetris is one of those inventions that have inspired all sorts of people to create unique objects: cakes, carpets, Japanese Tupperware (obento) and evendisguises.
And now, designer furniture. Artists Diego Silvério and Helder Filipov have created a collection of furniture inspired by that timeless videogame featuring geometric shapes. The collection consists of simple colorful blocks of wood that can be stacked one on top of the other to form different decorative and storage options. And, of course, every they reproduce every single Tetris figure in different colors: the square, the one that was shaped like a gun.. and even that long bar that can score you bunch of points. Simple and smart. It’s amazing no one had thought of it before!
