A group of Web surfers has been gathering images of final credits from old films. The collection has over 700 photos.
"Executive Suite", a film by Robert Wise
The End: thanks to the movies, these are the first two English language words many non-native speakers learn as children. It’s sad but filmmakers have gradually begun to abandon the custom of finishing their films with this legend.
That may be why graphic designer Dill Pixels wanted to start a collection of old film endings. "The End" is the name of the group he started on Flickr so he could share his finds with the rest of the world. It’s a gallery that, to date, contains over 700 titles that make up an interesting review of film history and the history of film credit design. Different fonts, colors, designs, and textures for the same single frame.
There are signs from famous films such as "Singing in the Rain" or "My Fair Lady", end credits from Warner Bros. cartoons, some from French films, and also a few contemporary titles such as the film "Planet Terror".
It’s worth taking a few minutes to have a look at this evocative gallery. And if you have a favorite ending of your own, now you know who to share it with. They’ll definitely appreciate it.
