What happens if you put a hamburger in a CAT scan machine? You get unusual and interesting images such as these.
This hamburger has been X-rayed
Surely at some point you’ve killed time by making copies of your face in the office copy machine. Your face deformed on a sheet of A 4 paper is just an anecdotal document of no great interest, but if you like seeing what things look like through a scanner, you should follow the footsteps of the people who created these photographs and use a more professional system.
Radiology Art is a project dedicated to exploring the insides of objects from day-to-day life and from popular culture. They’ve analyzed a series of objects - such as a hamburger, an electric shaver and a doll with movable arms and legs- using a professional medical scanner, or CAT scan. Thanks to this X-ray system, they obtain detailed images of each item in cross-section.
The result are provocative images such as the tasty hamburgerthat looks like cork and other more descriptive images such as the orderly inside-view of a cell phone. Some images are also a bit morbid, how can a doll be so scary? And others, such as the wooden matrioska or the toy elephant, are so graphic they could well be used to illustrate how these things work inside.
The density and colors in these images are treated with a software called Oxiris, the balance and contrast are adjusted using Photoshop, and a white or black background are added at the end.
That is how these interesting three-dimensional photographs that you can buy in high-resolution to give your home a touch of pop style are achieved.
