Anger Calculator

This little Japanese machine measures your degree of anger and shows you what compensation you should receive from the person who’s pissing you off.

The calculator that measures your anger

At the product’s presentation, a woman calculates how angry she is with her boyfriend

Did your friend fail to show up where she said she would? Did your boyfriend forget your birthday again? Don’t waste your energy telling them off, there’s a way to ensure you’ll be compensated for these vexations. It’s a calculator that measures your degree of annoyance and displays what compensation you should receive from the person playing dirty tricks on you. Damages are paid in cash! Although you can also accept other types of compensation such as gifts, theater tickets, or dinner.

Want to know how it works? These are the steps to take in order to calculate your displeasure:

1. Describe your profile.
2. Explain who your opponent, the person ticking you off, is (your spouse, a friend, your workmate...)
3. Choose the reason for your anger ("he’s cheated on me")
4. Describe the details of the vexation ("this is the second time it’s happened")
5. Express your anger by pushing the "Mental Damage" button as many times as you like.
6. Finally, press the "End" button and your "compensation" will be displayed. The calculator will indicate what gifts you deserve to help calm you down: a beer, a dinner...

It also has a block of notes so you can tall up the sum and claim it from your opponent.

This product was invented as part of the Koyoi Kyodai (Koyoi brothers)project by a Japanese company called Wiz. The project’s theme is "creating futile products (or creating absurd products)". They’ve invented this calculator with the sole aim of making gatherings among friends, workmates or classmates more fun. It’s also a good way to relax when you’re under stress. It costs 2.415 yen (21 Euros) and also functions as a normal calculator.

The anger calculator was launched on the market on January 24, 2009 and, during the product’s presentation, several people checked out their levels of anger and reported on their experiences with the calculator. One woman in the audience went onstage and calculated how angry she was with her boyfriend who had mistakenly called her by another woman’s name. The calculator must have considered this a very grave error, because the result was a financial compensation of 32,212 yen (282 Euros). "If my boyfriend pays me this amount everytime he says the wrong name, I don’t mind if he gets it mixed up!".
