Fanta Japan’s Ads

The stars in Fanta Japan’s new ad campaign are the incredibly weird teachers at a very peculiar high school.

This is Fanta High School

Who would’ve guessed this was a can of Fanta?

Can you imagine what it would be like to have a DJ as a math teacher asking you questions while mixing tracks in the classroom? What about having an invisible teacher? Fanta Japan has created a series of ads set in a high school with some very weird and somewhat selfish teachers. Their students are exasperated. But the high school is really so comical that, when you watch the ads, you feel a bit envious. These are Fanta High School’s teachers: Sensei is Japanese for teacher.

Ebi-san Sensei -Shrimp Teacher
She’s a very strict teacher. She’ll scold you if you don’t follow the rules. But, sometimes she is also friendly...

Toumei Sensei – Invisible Teacher
He’s there, but nobody can see him. His body is invisible.

Kawa-jan Sensei – Teacher Wearing a Leather Jacket
He’s a passionate teacher, almost like a rock singer. Once he gets going, he forgets the rest of the world.

Dragon Sensei – Dragon Teacher
This teacher is a parody of Bruce Lee.

Gekiyasu Sensei – Sales Teacher
This teacher loves making sums and always tries to solve every problem using a calculator. His favorite phrase is “It’s very cheap!”

DJ Sensei –DJ Teacher
He’s always mixing tracks in class, but he’s actually a math teacher.

Syo-gun Sensei – General Teacher
He’s a very proud teacher who comes from way back in the Edo Period. He used to be a general in the Japanese army, but now he teaches social studies. Students are expected to bow their heads before him as a sign of respect.

Hiru-mero Sensei – Soap Opera Teacher
She’s a teacher with loads of love stories. Her boyfriend shows up in class begging for forgiveness. And her mother-in-law comes by to insult her.

Tuppari Sensei – Yankee Teacher
He looks menacing, but he’s actually very good-natured and friendly with students.

Kurohigue Sensei - "Pop-Up Pirate" Teacher
He’s a pirate teacher (named after a Japanese toy called “Pop-Up Pirate”). Japanese students have cleaning duty in their high schools, and this teacher decides whose turn it is to clean the classroom.

Koucyou Sensei – High School Principal
He announces at an assembly that he’ll be pushing back the start of vacation this year in order to make up for lost study time since many students are late for school and doze off in class.

There’s one version of this soft drink that’s only sold in Japan: gelatin Fanta or Fanta FuruFuru Shaker. Normally, you’re not supposed to shake carbonated beverages. But, with this one, it’s the opposite. You have to shake it 10 times before opening it! It comes in different flavors: orange, grape, and lemon. I recommend you let them cool in the fridge before drinking.
