Pokemon: the videogame goes to the depths of the soul
Pikachu is happy as a clam
A saga that has shaken humanity to the core ever since its glorious appearance in this vale of tears, Pokemons are those creatures inspired by pure and simple little animals or mythological and legendary beasts that are the star in on of Nintendo’s videogames. Each of them has special differentiating powers and a peculiar way of attacking according to which element it’s associated with.
Pokemon was created as a videogame and launched in the mid Nineties, generously lining its creators’ pockets. Satoshi Tajiri, a coleopteron lover in his spare time, fathered these beings that need to be caught and trained. Although this world may seem a bit cryptic to the layman: the Pokedex is like a Bible for addicts of the game, an encyclopedia where you’ll find information (something rare and quite complicated) about the Pokemon, so you know what the hell to do with them when you catch them...
The merchandising came later, because the drawings were mega cute. And, of the 493 little monsters currently living in the Pokémon universe, Pikachu, ピカチュウ in Japanese, is the most popular. Listed as an electronic-type rat Pokemon, it looks more like a cross between a rabbit and an absolutely scrumptious overfed baby.
Pikachu’s peachy cheeks are actually bags full of electricity that start giving off sparks whenever it feels threatened... But mere mortals couldn’t care a hoot for all these trifles; they simply see it as a breathtakingly cute little critter.
