Those Wonderful Clicks
Which ones do you prefer, those old Clicks with hands which couldn’t move and a groove on the trunk, or you rather go for more contemporary ones with hands that can rotate? |

In 1974 Playmobil gave birth to the Clicks and there is a new way of measuring the time ever since: BC (Before Clicks) and AC (After Clicks). So now you know, re-calculate you D.O.B.
The first Clicks coming out boasted the same features for which they are still that popular today: an irresistible smiley little mouth and big head and eyes -no nose, no ears!, had you noticed that?-, relatively stiff motion, ideal size to take them in your pocket (7.5cm = 3”) and a whole lot of accessories, animals, buildings, plants...
They used to have hands which couldn’t move and a groove on the trunk. But they were all boys! A few years later here come the girls (clacks), the children and the babies!. The actual figures did evolved also: flesh-coloured hands that can rotate, the groove in the trunk disappeared, and new Clicks came up; with belly, beard, plaits, longish hair, different hair-styles, bare feet, wearing flip-flops or even trainers...
Since 1974 countless themes have been marketed, but they keep their imaginative spirit, their smiley little face and lots of accessories. You can count more than 2 million Clicks spread all over the world: there are more clicks than Chinese souls!
If you believe that Clicks are just kid’s game, you are wrong! For the past years a huge crowd of dedicated followers, true fans and collectors keeps building up: the click-addicts; mostly nostalgia-souls in their thirties who once played Playmobil and are now taking their old hobby up again by way of collections, fairs, forums, dioramas and customization.
Moreover, Clicks are turning into a design object of desire. They become more and more featured in adds, posters, local parties and all kinds of events, and you can find them in the streets of any city. Even history could not resist their magic spell: “The Great Adventure of History with Playmobil” (Richard Unglik). You have no excuse not to learn more.
