A huge Telemegaphone, located in a village in Norway, is ringing people’s voices out across from the hills
The Telemegaphone projects anything you want to say out across from the hills
Would you like that anything you want to say could be heard out loud by every one, no censorship whatsoever at the other side of the Globe? What would you think of Dale, a small (about 1000 residents) village Southeast Norway?
It is for real! Magnus Torstensson and Erik Sandelin are the creator of the Norwegian Telemegaphone, a 23 feet (7m) tall megaphone located on top of a mountain overlooking the idyllic village of Dale. During certain days shown at their website, anyone can dial the Telemegaphone’s phone number +4790369389 and shout to the world anything they want to say.
Each time it receives a call, a bright red light at the top of the pole is lit to indicate that it is broadcasting a message. However, there are some restrictions: it only works when the wind is blowing. Regarding its range, it seems that on a calm day, people in Dale (some 3km away) can clearly distinguish words and phrases. So be careful with what you say, it’s not their fault.
It’s almost free, you will only pay the same as you would pay to call to an ordinary Norwegian mobile phone. It’s surely not that expensive as it’s already received quite a lot of calls!.
The Telemegaphone is part of a series of concepts for poetic and unexpected phone services, then called "Parafunctional Payphones" trying to symbolize the interference capacity of modern world, no censorship, anytime, anywhere.
