"Wind Light" is Mathmos’ most eco-conscious lamp. It doesn’t require batteries or electricity and it’s shaped like a windmill with 4 rotor blades, much like those toy windmills you used to have as a child, only a lot more practical and sophisticated.
The rotor blades activate the lamp’s red LED light, and you know what you need to do to make the blades turn: blow on them or leave the lamp out in the garden or terrace and let the wind do its thing.
The wind light is 20 cm / 7.8 inches tall, and you can drive its base into the lawn, or in a flower pot, or just leave inside a vase. Use it to decorate and light your garden, you won’t need a power outlet nearby.
You can also collect several wind lights to create a light installation. But you would not be the first to do this since the wind light’s designers Jason Bruges Studio, have already done just that in London, where they created a 13-meter/45-foot tall wind turbine like this one. The result was spectacular, a red tower that lights up thanks to the energy provided by the wind.
