If you want an original way to redecorate your home without having to paint or make holes in the wall, all you need are some vinyl wall stickers. These stickers substitute for classic painted wallpaper.
They’re made out of vinyl, a flexible, ultra-durable material. They easily stick to any flat surface.
These vinyl wall stickers reproduce artist Keith Haring’s famous drawings. They’re a group of 8 colorful dancers that you can arrange to form a circle (like in the photograph), a line, a pyramid, or scattered around the living room. Each sticker is separate and each dancer is a different color.
The wall stickers were created by BLIK, a design studio that develops products in Venice, California. They were the first company to create reusable vinyl wall stickers. Aside from creating their own line of stickers, they’ve also developed products for brands such as Gap, MTV and Land of Nod.
Instructions for Applying Stickers
Prepare the surface. Clean and dry surface thoroughly before applying any sort of vinyl sticker. If the wall is freshly painted, wait a couple of days until the surface has absorbed the paint.
Prepare your design. Before peeling off the backing, move the sticker around and change it’s position. When you see it on the wall, you’ll get a sense of how it’ll look and you may get new ideas.
Rub the back of the sticker with a credit card, a spatula, or with your hands before you peel it off.
Carefully peel off the top of the paper stuck to the back of the vinyl.
Stick your vinyl wall sticker. It’ll look better if you hold down the corners and carefully smooth out the rest of the vinyl wall sticker as you press down on it (in order to prevent air bubbles from forming) and then slowly peel off the back.
Peel off the front of the sticker. It’s a thin transparent layer that serves to protect the sticker so it won’t be damaged inside the box.
You’ve successfully applied your vinyl wall sticker. If air bubbles appear, you can easily remove them by poking them with a needle.

Designer Profile
Keith Haring (1958-90) was preeminent among the young artists, performers, and musicians whose work responded to urban street culture of the 1980's.
Inspired by the graffiti artist whose marks covered the city's subway cars, Haring began to draw in white chalk over the black paper used to cover vacant advertising panels. There he developed the series of images that would become his signature: the radiant baby, the barking dog, and the running figure.
As early as 1982, Haring began exhibiting in galleries and museums around the world but continued to participate in public project. Although Keith Haring's career was brief, his imagery has become a universally recognized visual language of the 20th century. |
