Matty Martin is an industrial design student from San Francisco who has developed a camera that, if it ever makes it out on the market, could well be as big a hit as the legendary Polaroid. It’s the same concept, getting an instant snapshot, but uses a different technique. His invention is called Punch Camera and, as the name indicates, you have to hit the camera in order to get a printed photo. You don’t need any sort of ink or cartridges, just a piece of paper.

How does it work? The camera has a system of different sized needles that perforate the paper. Once you shoot, you have to insert the paper and "punch it" by hitting the camera. That way the image will be printed on the paper and the effect will be similar to a pixilated black and white copy of the photo you’ve just shot.

It’s creator says this invention is intended to get paper photos, so grossly neglected in this digital age, back in circulation, but without the need to spend money on ink or printing.

The Punch Camera is also a digital camera, so you can download the photos you take onto your computer. Look at the results in the photos used in this article. It’s incredible, isn’t it?
