Pixar’s Up! Toys are here
And not a moment too soon! All sorts of toys based on Pixar’s latest animation film, Up!, have already been launched: action figures, toys, cosbabies, and even stuffed dogs that bark. |

Although it’s only recently been released, Up!, Pixar’s latest film, is already a great success. It’s not just that people are coming out in droves to see it. The film’s characters are so adorable that it’s already possible to find all sorts of unofficial merchandizing products on the Internet.
There are versions of every character from Pixar’s film. There’s Carl, the grumpy granddad intent on making his dream of traveling to South America come true; Russell, the boy scout with attention deficit disorder; Kevin, a strange but friendly bird that tags along with the film’s protagonists and their dogs, a pack of robot mutts that always come up with clever replies.
The most realistic Up! toys are probably ones called Hot Toys, where we’ve found two types of Russell and Carl dolls: the classic vinyl action figures and a children’s version, called cosbabies.
However, Up!’s official merchandizing belongs to Disney, the distributor and owner of the rights to Pixar’s film. For the moment, Disney is only selling some goodies and a series of stuffed dogs based on the protagonists’ pets: Alpha Plus, Beta Plus, Gamma and the adorable Jumbo Dug. This dolls have a surprise feature: each comes with a speaker that reproduces its voice, exactly as it sounds in the movie! If you’ve seen the film, by now you may be wondering what voice the leading dog has, is it the bad-guy voice or the high-pitched tone? We’ll have to wait to get our hands on one of these dolls to discover that.

| I guess the one lone female character in the movie wasn't important enough to merit having a figurine created even though she was the whole REASON Carl went to Paradise Falls. :-p |

| Carl has no children or grandchildren, and the dogs (with translation collars)- their not robots- belong to the antagonist- the bad guy. Even Dug did not belong to Mr. Frederickson until near the end of the film. I did get a laugh about your comment about Russell and Attention Defecit Disorder however- I dont think that is the case either. Its nice to see some merchandise come out from this great film though. |
