A CD has been launched on the market composed of songs that use "mosquito tone", that sound only people under 20-years old can hear. It’s an album just for young people.
The "Mosquito" album cover
Have you ever heard of mosquito tone? It’s a high-pitched sound that’s similar to the buzzing noise mosquitos make. They say this tone is rather annoying for people under 20 but, the older you get, the less you hear it. At about age 20, you start finding it harder to hear and, by the time you’re over 30, it’s almost impossible to distinguish.
In Japan, they use mosquito tone to keep teenagers away from parks and parking lots so they won’t cause a raucous and bother the neighbors. However, the result has been somewhat dubious since young people are starting to use this tone as music in their cell phones, so teachers in the classroom don’t even notice when the kids’ phones ring.
Making use of this peculiar tone’s advantages, a few days ago Hudson put out a CD album that has songs recorded on it using mosquito tone.
It’s simply called "Mosquito". It has 18 songs and some of them can be used to check your ears’ age. Others songs can be used as an alarm and there are also songs to play games with. It would be curious to know how they made these songs with this annoying high-pitched tone, but, anyway, I don’t think I can hear it anymore... Why don’t you play this CD at a party or your next gathering with friends?
