The bottle for the Japanese brand Fueki’s glue looks like a yellow dog wearing a red cap. It serves as a source of inspiration for creating all sorts of products.
The classic Fueki glue bottle
A very cute yellow puppy’s face and a bright red cap, that’s what the new Fueki package looks like. And the contents have been just as carefully designed as the packaging: it contains a sunscreen that’s soft-to-the-touch, water resistant and also a great moisturizer. It also includes a complementary pair of glasses for the puppy on the bottle.
This design is totally retro for Japanese, and that makes it all the more appealing to us. It’s the same old Fueki glue package we’ve always known, a product that makes adults feel nostalgic, because it’s a tool that’s been used in Japanese schools since 1975. This product is also very eco-friendly, it’s made out of cornstarch, and it is still very popular today.
This new Fueki bottle made me recall my childhood, and the arts-and-crafts classes I so used to love. I browsed their web site, hoping to see Fueki again, and found something very interesting: a web site called Fueki Fun Factory, a page dedicated to imagining products with a design inspired by the Fueki bottle. All the products on it are false, but the web site is so well designed that it almost makes you think they might exist. Some of these products include:
Fueki Car: a car that runs on Fueki glue instead of gasoline. It’s strong enough to carry 100 Fueki mascots (or up to 2 people).
Fueki Cell Phone: it you get one of these, you’ll get free phone calls to other Fueki phones. There are several models to choose from and all of them have a button to avoid fights during phone conversations.
Fueki Resort: on the web site they say a Fueki couple is planning to marry at this exotic resort. They recommend flying there on the Fueki airplane. The wedding menu includes glue made of cornstarch.
