There's nothing worse than asking someone to borrow a pen and having them hand you one that's all chewed up. Why do people eat pens? It must be that studying makes us nervous and, when there are no yummy snacks around, we tend to chew on whatever's on hand. If all your pens have that nasty chewed up look to them, it may interest you to learn that designer Dave Hakkens has now created edible pens.

He was inspired by those colorful candy bracelets and necklaces we all had when we were kids. At first Hakkens thought he'd add just one edible piece to a normal pen, making it into a sort of lollipop, but then he thought better of it and decided it would be more fun if you could eat the entire pen.

Hakkens then made a few molds, practiced making candy at home, and even created special ink that's also edible. The only thing that's not edible is the pen's tip! The result is this cool writing implement that's made from little pieces of candies in different flavors and colors. And the best part of it is that the candies come off, so the pen is always in perfect condition.
