Concept hotels are becoming increasingly fashionable. We told you about some of these a few months ago: one that’s shaped like a capsule and is geographically mobile, another one that’s made of ice, and the world’s most kitsch hotel, the Madonna Inn. But we’d never heard about hotels like the Creators Inn before, a place specially designed for artists, created by a clothing company called Elvine.
This hotel in Stockholm has a unique concept: it offers free accommodation for all sorts of artists. The hotel’s aim is that everyone who stays there will somehow contribute to promoting creativity in the city. All sorts of artists are welcome here: musicians, photographers, designers, writers, painters...
On the hotel’s web page you can see some pictures of the room they offer artists, a little designer apartment designed to promote guests’ creativity. For instance, there’s an enormous map of the city on the wall and below it there’s some paper each visitor can fill-out with recommendations on restaurants, shops... and then they can tack these onto the map with thumbtacks and to collectively create a guide to the city. You can also select some vinyl records and listen to music on a record player, or connect your iPod.
The bedroom has a large double bed and a study area for your computer, a wall full of plants and a closet full of clothes Elvine the guest can use. The other room is the spa-bath, decorated with a Dala horse, a Swedish icon, that’ll keep you company while your read on the toilet and the shower screen has Elvine’s history engraved on it.
The apartment is located in SoFo, a neighborhood in the center Stockholm. Would you like to spend a few days there? Well, you’ll have to send a letter to the hotel’s managers, telling them all the details about your stay and the reasons why they should let you spend a few nights there.
