A Robot Penguin with the Soul of a Tamagochi

It’s "mydeskfriend", a tamagochi robot shaped like a penguin that you can play with on the Internet. It logs onto Facebook, reads your email and even talks to you.

Pocket sized, with luminous eyes and a hat, that’s MyDeskFriend

Pocket sized, with luminous eyes and a hat, that’s MyDeskFriend It reads your feeds, checks your mail, tells you the time... it’s a real gem To be launched on the market in September Includes a base for recharging the battery Feed it and it will be happy It’s the new Tamagochi
When we found this robot penguin on the Internet, it instantly brought to mind some of our coolest gadgets: the USB owl and the Nabaztag bunny. It reminded us of the USB Owl because of its adorable design, its penetrating look and its chubby two-tone body. However, its interactive personality and its dependence on the Internet make us think it’s more like the Nabaztag bunny’s younger brother.

The robot penguin is called mydeskfriend and a company called Arimaz will be launching it on the market next September. It’s a desk robot that responds to physical contact and expresses 5 different moods.

But the real innovation with respect to other personal assistants is that you can integrate it in your Facebook account. You can use this social network’s applications to feed it, exercise it and take care of it so it’ll be in a good mood. It’s like a tamagochi that you control from your computer and it interacts with you almost automatically. It can also read your feeds, check your mail, and memorize up to 15 key words that it’ll repeat whenever you need it to. It’s the faithful companion you’ve always wanted!

Watch the video below just to get an idea. And, of course, there’s already a group on Facebook, click here to become a fan.
