This moneybox features a kitty cat peeking out of a cardboard box to grab the coin.
Playful kitty cat grabs the coin
Ingenious novelty piggy banks are the latest trend on the Japanese market, but this moneybox is especially adorable. Whenever you put a coin in it, a little kitty cat peeks out of the cardboard box and sticks its paw out to try to grab it.
The cardboard box is actually made of plastic, but it has a very realistic design, like those boxes used to deliver fruit or instant noodles to shops, which are, sadly, often used to abandon pets. There’s a plate full of fish bones on top of the box, and that’s where you leave the coin for the cat. The plate also works as a button to make the cat come out. The moneybox has an opening on the back so you can take out the coins you’ve saved and also another button to activate the moneybox.
Before you put in a coin, you must first activate the moneybox, this is as easy as pressing the button on the back. Then, just leave a coin on the plate and lightly press it to start the whole process going. With just a light press of the button, you’ll hear the cat meowing and the box will open. Then the kitty cat will peek out of the box, stick out its paw, and grab the coin. When the coin falls into the moneybox, you’ll hear another meow and, finally, the box closes again. All of this is quite subtle.
Abandoned cats are often found inside cardboard boxes, which is really very sad, but the cats in this moneybox won’t make you feel sad or sorry for them. On the contrary, they’ll make you smile and you’ll want to throw more coins at them. It’s a Shine product and there are currently 4 types of cat available. There are also 4 dog models available for sale. The dog models have a meat bone on the plate instead of a fish bone, and they bark instead of meowing.
